Emergency Closure
Decisions concerning whether to open a school on snow days are never easy and are left entirely to the discretion of the headteacher. The decision is based on many factors, the most significant being health & safety and staffing. Therefore the decision each headteacher makes based on these factors may well be different
We always aim to be open as normal as a significant number of our staff live locally and therefore, there will be sufficient teaching and non teaching staff to ensure that the children are safeguarded and can be taught.
Severe weather is disruptive and can cause anxiety and stress. Understandably, many parents ring the school if snow starts falling heavily. It can be frustrating trying to get through when all our outside lines are engaged by other parents calling for the same reason.
We will notify you by email or text message via Parentmail and the school website will display a banner on the homepage. You may also access the Essex Schools Infolink to see a list of school closures.
We will also inform Heart FM-VHF/FM 102.6, 96.3, www.heart.co.uk/essex. Please listen to one of these stations or check their websites for information and updates but please do not ring the radio station.
