House Captains

Our School Houses
At our school, the House system is an important part of our identity and community spirit. Every pupil and staff member belongs to one of our five Houses, each representing a unique set of values and strengths that help shape the character of our school - Brunel, Pankhurst, Darwin, Nightingale and Shakespeare. The Houses unite pupils across all year groups, creating a strong sense of belonging and teamwork.
Throughout the year, the Houses come together in a vertical way—bringing older and younger pupils together—to take part in whole-school events such as Sports Day, the Winter Olympics, our annual pantomime, inter-House competitions, and many other celebrations. These shared experiences help build friendships, encourage healthy competition, and strengthen our supportive school culture.
House Captains
Each House is led by one House Captain, chosen during the summer term of Year 5 through a formal application process. Candidates must demonstrate our core school values, show responsibility, and act as positive role models to others.
Successful applicants are inaugurated in the first weeks of Year 6 and take on an important leadership role within the school. They serve as ambassadors, represent their House with pride at events, and support younger pupils during playtimes, assemblies, and special occasions. Their dedication and enthusiasm help ensure that every House remains vibrant, inclusive, and united.
